Meiji-sai 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. Bunkano-hi Manyo Gagaku-kai, November 3, every year
Held to celebrate the great achievements of the Emperor Meiji and national prosperity, the Meiji-sai festival begins at 10:00 with the performance of Bugaku traditional court music and dance. Beginning at 13:00, visitors can enjoy performances of Gagaku, an ancient performing art, in celebration of Culture Day.
Numerous performances of wind and string instrument music as well as Bugaku court music and dance that have been passed down from the Nara Period are presented on the floating stage on the pond in the center of Manyo Botanical Garden.
